California Code of Civil Procedure Section 708.510(a) authorizes the court to order a judgment debtor to assign to a receiver in aid of execution all or part of a right to payments- including rents, commissions, royalties, payments due from a patent or copyright, the loan value of an insurance policy, or wages due from the federal government that are not subject to an earnings withholding order. A post-judgment receiver works for the benefit of the judgment creditor. The receiver can take possession of the assets of the judgment creditor, take any positive cash flow, or sell the assets to satisfy the judgment, all pursuant to court approval. Read more.

Who cannot be appointed as a receiver?

In the state of California, court-appointed receivers must be qualified to serve as receivers. Pursuant to the California Code of Civil Procedure § 566(a), numerous circumstances would prohibit an individual from qualifying to serve as a court receiver.
